The Growth Of The Bible
As at the time of Moses, several scriptures were not known to the public. The scriptures before the time of Moses, included books written by Enoch after he visited the heavenly kingdoms. Other books were those written by Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the twelve sons of Jacob, etc. The Bible seems to begin with Moses, because Moses wrote the first five books and because previous books were not known to the public.
At the time of Joshua, the Bible as we know it included only the five books of Moses: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
At the time of David, the Bible has expanded to include the book of Joshua.
When Jesus was on earth, the scriptures referred to the Old Testament only, without the New Testament.
Later, the New Testament section was added many years after the death of Jesus.
The fact is that the Bible supposes to grow from generation to generation. More so, as Jesus said you shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free. That means that all the Truth are not yet in the Bible. If all the Truth were already inside the Bible, He would not have spoken of knowing the Truth, because people would have known the Truth by studying the Bible.
The Problem With Many People
The problem with many people is that they take decision and hold on to it, whether it is good or bad. They call this faith, whereas it is foolishness. And what many call faith is nothing but stubbornness. – The persistent refusal to do what God has said.
It is good to take decision. But, after taking decision, ask God about it. That is where many go wrong, and and thereby put themselves into stagnation and create problems for themselves. True faith is knowledge-based. And every wise saint uses the little light he has to gain more light.
Be Open-Minded. And Yet, Careful!
The Bible is meant to grow from age to age and from volume to volume. So, why do the present generations refuse to accept new teachings, messages and revelations of the Holy Spirit? Indeed, people are deceiving themselves and as well misleading others, out of their own ignorance. They claim to believe only in the current holy book only. They should do well to remember and consider what Jesus said,
12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
John 16:12-14
In other words, the word of God is an ever flowing stream, supplying more and more and more, from time to time.
